Switch #:
SWTI000006
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Physicochemical compatibility

Description:
Phosphorylation of S50 in the PLK-docking motif of M-phase inducer phosphatase 2 (CDC25B) by Cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1)-Cyclin AB subfamily generates a recruitment site for Serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK1 (PLK1), which then phosphorylates and activates M-phase inducer phosphatase 2 (CDC25B).

Participants:
(1) M-phase inducer phosphatase 2 (CDC25B)
(2) Serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK1 (PLK1)

Interactions
Interaction #1 CDC25B - PLK1

Interfaces
(1) ELM:LIG_PLK motif (49SSP51) in M-phase inducer phosphatase 2 (CDC25B)
(2) POLO box duplicated region (417-584) in Serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK1 (PLK1)

Interaction Regulation
PTM-dependent Induction (Phosphorylation of S50 on M-phase inducer phosphatase 2 (CDC25B)) of the M-phase inducer phosphatase 2 (CDC25B) LIG_PLK motif - Serine/threonine-protein kinase PLK1 (PLK1) POLO box duplicated region interaction

Regulatory Enzymes for switch
Modifying enzymes for residue: S50: Cyclin-dependent kinase 1 (CDK1)
