Switch #:
SWTI000513
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Pre-translational

Description:
Alternative splicing removes the actin-binding motif of Isoform Dp71 of Dystrophin (DMD), abrogating binding to Actin, alpha skeletal muscle (ACTA1). The presence of the actin-binding motif in Isoform Dp71 of Dystrophin (DMD) may allow it to participate in the clustering of sodium channels by anchoring the syntrophin/channel complex to the actin cytoskeleton.

Participants:
(1) Isoform Dp71 of Dystrophin (DMD)
(2) Actin, alpha skeletal muscle (ACTA1)

Interactions
Interaction #1 DMD - ACTA1

Interfaces
(1) ELM:LIG_Actin_DMD motif (5LKGHET10) in Isoform Dp71 of Dystrophin (DMD)
(2) Actin (4-377) in Actin, alpha skeletal muscle (ACTA1)

Interaction Regulation
Alternative splicing Abrogation of the Isoform Dp71 of Dystrophin (DMD) LIG_Actin_DMD motif - Actin, alpha skeletal muscle (ACTA1) Actin interaction

Context
Switch localisation
