Switch #:
SWTI000523
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Pre-translational

Description:
Alternative promoter usage removes the mitochondrial localisation signal (MLS) of Isoform UNG1 of Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG), abrogating binding to Mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM70 (TOMM70A) and import into mitochondria. In Isoform UNG2 of Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG) the MLS present in Isoform UNG1 of Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG) is replaced with a nuclear localisation signal (NLS), promoting different localisations of the different protein isoforms.

Participants:
(1) Isoform UNG1 of Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG)
(2) Mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM70 (TOMM70A)

Interactions
Interaction #1 UNG - TOMM70A

Interfaces
(1) ELM:TRG_MLS motif (1MGVFCLGPWGLGRKLRTPGKGPLQLLSRLCGDHLQAIPAKKAPA44) in Isoform UNG1 of Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG)
(2) Tetratricopeptide repeat (114-578) in Mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM70 (TOMM70A)

Interaction Regulation
Alternative promoter usage Abrogation of the Isoform UNG1 of Uracil-DNA glycosylase (UNG) TRG_MLS motif - Mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM70 (TOMM70A) Tetratricopeptide repeat interaction
