Description:
Alternative splicing removes the palmitoylation motif of Isoform Brain of Cell division control protein 42 homolog (CDC42), abrogating binding to Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC9 (ZDHHC9). The splice variant with the palmitoylation motif (Isoform Brain of Cell division control protein 42 homolog (CDC42)) is expressed in brain and is often found within raf-like domain of dendrites. Increased levels of glutamate results in rapid depalmitoylation and dislocation from dendrites.
