Switch #:
SWTI000595
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Allostery

Description:
Binding of calcium(2+) to Calmodulin (Calm1) exposes a binding site on Calmodulin (Calm1) for the Calmodulin-binding IQ motif of Protein transport protein Sec61 subunit alpha isoform 1 (SEC61A1), an interaction that results in closure of the protein-conducting channel located in the ER.

Participants:
(1) Protein transport protein Sec61 subunit alpha isoform 1 (SEC61A1)
(2) Calmodulin (Calm1)

Interactions
Interaction #1 SEC61A1 - Calm1

Interfaces
(1) LIG_IQ motif (13CVILPEIQKPERKIQFKEK31) in Protein transport protein Sec61 subunit alpha isoform 1 (SEC61A1)
(2) EF-hand domain pair (14-73) in Calmodulin (Calm1)

Interaction Regulation
Effector binding Enhancement (calcium(2+)) of the Protein transport protein Sec61 subunit alpha isoform 1 (SEC61A1) LIG_IQ motif - Calmodulin (Calm1) EF-hand domain pair interaction

Additional Information
Affinity : 0.121 µM
Context
Switch localisation
ELM curated: cytosol, intracellular
