Switch #:
SWTI000185
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Physicochemical compatibility

Description:
Phosphorylation of S473 close to the Chromo shadow domain-binding motif of Transcription intermediary factor 1-beta (Trim28) by Protein kinase C delta type (Prkcd) negatively regulates its interaction with Chromobox protein homolog 1 (Cbx1), which is crucial for heterochromatin formation and maintenance. This results in relief of transcription repression and promotion of cell cycle progression.

Participants:
(1) Transcription intermediary factor 1-beta (Trim28)
(2) Chromobox protein homolog 1 (Cbx1)

Interactions
Interaction #1 Trim28 - Cbx1

Interfaces
(1) LIG_HP1_1 motif (486PRVSL490) in Transcription intermediary factor 1-beta (Trim28)
(2) Chromo shadow domain (115-172) in Chromobox protein homolog 1 (Cbx1)

Interaction Regulation
PTM-dependent Abrogation (Phosphorylation of S473 on Transcription intermediary factor 1-beta (Trim28)) of the Transcription intermediary factor 1-beta (Trim28) LIG_HP1_1 motif - Chromobox protein homolog 1 (Cbx1) Chromo shadow domain interaction
