Switch #:
SWTI000490
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Pre-translational

Description:
Alternative splicing removes the WW-binding motif of Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-4 (ERBB4), abrogating binding to E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase Itchy homolog (ITCH). The presence of a WW-binding motif mediates ERBB4 mono-ubiquitination and endocytosis by the WW domain-containing HECT-type E3 ubiquitin ligase ITCH.

Participants:
(1) Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-4 (ERBB4)
(2) E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase Itchy homolog (ITCH)

Interactions
Interaction #1 ERBB4 - ITCH

Interfaces
(1) LIG_WW_1 motif (1053PPAY1056) in Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-4 (ERBB4)
(2) WW domain (328-357) in E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase Itchy homolog (ITCH)

Interaction Regulation
Alternative splicing Abrogation of the Receptor tyrosine-protein kinase erbB-4 (ERBB4) LIG_WW_1 motif - E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase Itchy homolog (ITCH) WW domain interaction
