Description: Alternative splicing removes the PDZ-binding motif of Isoform Glur5-2 of Glutamate receptor ionotropic, kainate 1 (Grik1), abrogating binding to PRKCA-binding protein (Pick1). The ER-retention motif of Grik1 splice variants can be inhibited by PKC phosphorylation and association with a PDZ protein. It has also been shown that the PDZ domain-containing proteins Disks large homolog 4 (Dlg4) and Syntenin-1 (Sdcbp) are able to bind.
