Switch #:
SWTI000576
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Pre-translational

Description:
Alternative splicing removes the SUMO motif of Protein PML (PML), abrogating binding to SUMO-conjugating enzyme UBC9 (UBE2I). The study identified a major sumoylation site within the nuclear localisation signal (NLS) of PML. Although they did not determine whether the lysine residue regulates the NLS, they found that sumoylation was not necessary for nuclear localisation and that SUMO-modification only occurs in the nucleus.

Participants:
(1) Protein PML (PML)
(2) SUMO-conjugating enzyme UBC9 (UBE2I)

Interactions
Interaction #1 PML - UBE2I

Interfaces
(1) MOD_SUMO motif (489IKME492) in Protein PML (PML)
(2) Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (8-152) in SUMO-conjugating enzyme UBC9 (UBE2I)

Interaction Regulation
Alternative splicing Abrogation of the Protein PML (PML) MOD_SUMO motif - SUMO-conjugating enzyme UBC9 (UBE2I) Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme interaction
