Switch #:
SWTI000627
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Pre-translational

Description:
RNA editing removes the degron motif of Synapsin (Syn), abrogating binding to cAMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (Pka-C1). A genomic version of the protein sequence contains a canonical PKA-recognition motif that is highly conserved, however in Drosophilia, in all except the embryo sequences this sequence was RNA-edited to RGFS (from RRFS).

Participants:
(1) Synapsin (Syn)
(2) cAMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (Pka-C1)

Interactions
Interaction #1 Syn - Pka-C1

Interfaces
(1) MOD_PKA_1 motif (3RGFSSGD9) in Synapsin (Syn)
(2) Protein kinase domain (46-300) in cAMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (Pka-C1)

Interaction Regulation
RNA editing Abrogation of the Synapsin (Syn) MOD_PKA_1 motif - cAMP-dependent protein kinase catalytic subunit (Pka-C1) Protein kinase domain interaction
