Switch #:
SWTI000011
Switch type:
Binary
Switch subtype:
Physicochemical compatibility

Description:
Phosphorylation of S294 adjacent to the NLS of Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1) by cAMP subfamily primes Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1) for subsequent phosphorylation by Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3B), which results in inhibition of nuclear import of Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1).

Participants:
(1) Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1)
(2) Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3B)

Interactions
Interaction #1 NFATC1 - GSK3B

Interfaces
(1) MOD_GSK3_1 motif (287PHGSPRVS294) in Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1)
(2) Protein kinase domain (56-340) in Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3B)

Interaction Regulation
PTM-dependent Induction (Phosphorylation of S294 on Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1)) of the Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1) MOD_GSK3_1 motif - Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3B) Protein kinase domain interaction

Regulatory Enzymes for switch
Modifying enzymes for residue: S294: cAMP subfamily

Context
