Description: Phosphorylation of S245 adjacent to the NLS of Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1) by cAMP subfamily primes Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1) for subsequent phosphorylation by Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3B), which results in inhibition of nuclear import of Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1).
Participants: (1) Nuclear factor of activated T-cells, cytoplasmic 1 (NFATC1) (2) Glycogen synthase kinase-3 beta (GSK3B)
(1) Protein kinase A negatively modulates the nuclear accumulation of NF-ATc1 by priming for subsequent phosphorylation by glycogen synthase kinase-3.Sheridan et al. J. Biol. Chem. (2002)
